New soccer jersey 2010/12 unveiled by Scotland

European nation Scotland has unveiled their new soccer jersey that they will wear during the team’s 2012 European Qualification campaign. The new Scotland 2010/12 soccer jersey is predominately yellow with a dark blue pinstripe down the sides and a dark blue round neck collar.

Manufacturers Adidas place their dark blue logo in the top right of the soccer jersey whilst the three traditional dark blue stripes running down the shoulders. The club badge is positioned in the top left although there is currently no sponsorship logo on the body.

The team performed disappointingly in their World Cup qualifying group under manager George Burley. They only managed 1 point from their double headers against Holland and Norway whilst they also suffered a surprise defeat away to Macedonia. Craig Levein has recently replaced George Burley as manager and he got his reign off to the perfect start with a 1-0 victory over Czech Republic, who they will also face in the Euro 2012 qualifiers.

The most stylish soccer jersey in the World Cup

Peru hasn't qualified to a FIFA World Cup since Spain 1982, but according to ESPN journalist Roger Bennet, Peru has the most stylish soccer jersey seen in a world cup since 1954, when German brand Adidas appeared.

"The stark slash slicing through the shirt was a simple yet strikingly effective piece of design. The team was appalling but if soccer were scored like figure skating, and points were factored in for style, Peru would, without a doubt, have instantly been hailed as world champion," says Bennet.

The 10 best World Cup soccer jerseys of all time for Bennet are:

1.Peru 1978

2.Zaire 1974

3.Brazil 1970

4.Mexico 1978

5.Holland 1974

6.Denmark 1986

7.Croatia 1994

8.United States 1994

9.East Germany 1974

10.Argentine 1986 (away kit)

Controversy of the soccer jersey

Owning an official Soccer Jersey of your favorite team has long been the sign of a true fan but with soccer team’s increasingly updating their official team jersey both the home and away Soccer Jersey and in some cases adding a regularly used third Soccer Jersey it is harder and harder for even the hardcore fan to keep. The breaking point came this season when all 20 English Premier League teams releasing a new home soccer jersey this season after 18 of the EPL team’s did the same last season. Tottenham Hotspur are the poster boys for jersey releases.
The north London club have launched new kits for the last six campaigns and are releasing SIX jerseys for the 2010/11 English Premier League campaign. The number is ridiculous but made to feel not as overwhelming as the team has different sponsors for EPL matches and Cup matches so there is three soccer jerseys – the home, away and third – but with two different sponsors.Get in the official soccer jersey of your favorite team at World Soccer Shop. WSS only carries the official gear, we have no say when new jerseys are released.
FC chairman Malcolm Clarke told the BBC, “I think Spurs' actions are frankly ridiculous. Given the price of watching football in London you have to be very rich to be a Spurs fan already. If you're paying for six shirts that would be about £250."
The English Premier League has tried to discourage the frequent release of new jerseys. In the 2000 charter there was a mandate to release new replica soccer jerseys every two seasons but apparently this is not followed.
And for those curious about the two teams that did not release newsoccer Jersey last campaign with one coming out this season, that honor belongs to Arsenal and Liverpool so their fans must be happy.

Soccer Jerseys History -do you know?

Soccer Jerseys are also known as the strip, kit, uniform or in other parts of the world a football shirt. It is the standard clothing worn by players in the United States and North America. We are providing you with the latest news on Soccer Jerseysfrom Major League Soccer and around the world including the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A and all of Europe’s and the rest of the worlds major divisions. Soccer in North America The jerseys worn by teams in he North American Soccer League (NASL) are not often looked back on with fond memories, the worst was a jersey for the Colorado Caribou which included tassles around the chest, fortunatley the jersey lasted only two seasons as the team moved on to Minnesota to become the Kicks. The league lasted in Canada and the United States of America from 1968 to 1984, with star players such as George Best, Pele, Franz Beckenbauer, Johan Cruyff gracing the soccer fields of America. Soccer returned to North America in 1993 as part of the US bid for the 1994 FIFA World Cup, the first season was in 1996 and they run from late March to November when teams compete for the MLS Cup via playoffs. Since the inception of the MLS teams have had their jerseys manufactured by adidas, initially teams wore their team name across their chest instead of a sponsor, but in 2007 Real Salt Lake became the first Major League team to put a company on their jersey, since then most MLS sides have followed. Jersey numbers In the early years of soccer, players wore numbers 1 through 11 on the back of their jerseys and their position on the field could often be figured out from that number. Number one would be the goalkeeper, six and eight would be central midfielders whilst number 9 would be the centre forward. Since then squad numbering has superseded this method and now players can be seen wearing anything from #1 to #99 with little relevance to their position on the field. In recent years some players have become identifible with their number, including global megastars David Beckham #23, Wayne Rooney #10, Steven Gerrard #8 and Cristiano Ronaldo #7. The players name is normally displayed above the number, but sometimes below. History of the Soccer Jersey The first Soccer Jerseysin the 19th Century were thick cotton shirts, in the 20th Century new clothing fabrics allowed for kits to be made in lighter synthetic fibres. In the 1950's uniforms worn by players in Europe and South America became more lightweight, v-necks replaced collars on jerseys. The new fabrics meant designs could become increasingly complex and colorful and include features such as sponsor logos or team names on the chest of the jersey. The game started in England in the 1860s but it wasn't until the 1870s when standard team uniforms started to emerge. Since a ruling in 1921 the away side has been required to changed their jerseys in the event of a color clash. Numbers started to appear on jerseys in the 1920s but it wasn't until the 1933 English FA Cup Final that they were featured in a major fixture, interestingly the Everton players wore numbers 1 through 11, whilst Manchester City players wore 12 through 22. In 1975 Leeds United were the first club to design a uniform which could be sold to fans in the form of replica jerseys, other clubs soon followed suit and the lead to clubs designing more individual kit designs, this decade also saw the first corporate sponsors appearing on club uniforms. A new soccer jersey was holds up by Thierry Henry

This wasn’t the same Thierry Henry we saw Thursday night. He had hit a wall in training, and with it came heavy legs, so there was no magic with the ball, no flicks, no deft touches and, well, no goals. But a funny thing happened to the Red Bulls today against Manchester City in the finale of the Barclays New York Challenge. They won the game. And they did it playing a different level of soccer than they had played during the regular season. Macoumba Kandji scored seven minutes in and Dane Richards connected with 20 minutes to play as the Red Bulls finished third in the four-team tournament with a 2-1 victory in the rain before a crowd of 23,228 at Red Bull Arena. France striker Thierry Henry holds up a new soccer jersey
at a news conference after being introduced as the newest member of the New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey, July 15, 2010. Henry announced his retirement from international soccer on Thursday. The 32-year-old former Arsenal and Barcelona striker, who signed for Major League Soccer (MLS) side New York Redbulls on Wednesday, played only a bit-part in France's World Cup campaign in South Africa, which ended at the group stage. oracle octopus get soccer jersey from spanish group

(CNN) -- Paul the psychic octopus may not have predicted a medal and a Soccer Jersey in his future, but he now owns both.

The global phenomenon picked Spain to beat the Netherlands in the World Cup finals earlier this month.

Nearly two weeks later, a Spanish delegation from the town of Carballino brought a gift basket Thursday for the cephalopod in his hometown of Oberhausen, Germany.

The gifts included a bronze statue that is the symbol of the town of Carballino, which makes Paul an official ''best friend of the town."

The delegation -- which included Carballino's mayor Carlos Alberto Montes Marques and various businessmen -- also gave the tentacled one an official Spanish Soccer Jersey.

Businessman Manuel Pazo was part of the delegation. Pazo has in the past expressed his intent to buy Paul as the town's mascot.

Carballino residents will celebrate Paul again on August 8th in the 43rd "festival of the octopus."

Paul not only predicted Spain's win over the Netherlands in the final, but also the team's semifinal success against Germany.

Before that, he correctly predicted all five of Germany's earlier results, and picked Germany to beat Uruguay in the third-place playoff, ending the tournament with a remarkable eight-for-eight record.

For each prediction, two mussel-filled acrylic boxes labeled with a team's flag were lowered into Paul's tank. Whichever box he chose conveyed the winning team.

Sea Life staff, where Paul lives, have announced he is retiring from the predictions game, but previously said they were considering offers from around the globe.

Spain has expressed an interest in Paul, and a Russian bookmaking company has offered to pay 100,000 euros (about $129,800) for the octopus.
